Searching for a monitor mount for web conferencing with your iPhone, I found most mounts suitable for Zoom due to the rear camera using iPhone continuity function. However, for Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, front camera use is needed. SODI's mount stands out as it accommodates both by allowing you to flip the magnet plate as you need it for front or rear camera use.Additionally, it serves as a sturdy desk stand.
It was a pleasant surprise receiving a hefty package, thinking this is just plastic and will come in a flimsy brown box. But it wasn’t the case. The base is really solid and heavy. The magnet is strong but you can easily rotate your phone, just as it does with other MagSafe mounts. And the best thing - which is the reason why I got this - is that it serves 3 purposes: a desk phone stand, mount for mac, and mount for monitor. Time will tell how the adhesion of rubber padding and sturdiness of the hinges will last. I do wish though, that the mount for macbook also has padding - I’m concerned it may leave marks on the bezel on repetitive use.
I was immediately impressed by the high quality of the mount. I was expecting something a bit more flimsy but it's quite sturdy and it looks and feels premium. My original plan was to use it only to mount my phone to my monitor for meetings since that video quality is way better than my webcam but I was also impressed by how it looks as a phone stand. I liked that you can also remove the magnetic portion and use only that for a thin monitor like the one on a macbook. On that same note, I loved that you can use a MagSafe charger instead of the magnet that comes with it so your mount now doubles as a charger, genius! In general I highly recommend it
This is a good product. It is very sturdy and holds well on external monitors. However, I do not like that it is optimized more for the back camera. I usually try to use my front camera in portrait mode. It holds well with good grip. But when taking it off, it usually comes out with the phone. I wish it is stuck to the monitor more solidly.
It’s perfect. The holder is a little heavy and I have to remove my phone case to use it. Otherwise it does the job
