SODI BM330 Continuity Camera Mount For iPhone and Mac

Searching for a monitor mount for web conferencing with your iPhone, I found most mounts suitable for Zoom due to the rear camera using iPhone continuity function. However, for Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, front camera use is needed. SODI's mount stands out as it accommodates both by allowing you to flip the magnet plate as you need it for front or rear camera use.Additionally, it serves as a sturdy desk stand.

It was a pleasant surprise receiving a hefty package, thinking this is just plastic and will come in a flimsy brown box. But it wasn’t the case. The base is really solid and heavy. The magnet is strong but you can easily rotate your phone, just as it does with other MagSafe mounts. And the best thing - which is the reason why I got this - is that it serves 3 purposes: a desk phone stand, mount for mac, and mount for monitor. Time will tell how the adhesion of rubber padding and sturdiness of the hinges will last. I do wish though, that the mount for macbook also has padding - I’m concerned it may leave marks on the bezel on repetitive use.

I was immediately impressed by the high quality of the mount. I was expecting something a bit more flimsy but it's quite sturdy and it looks and feels premium. My original plan was to use it only to mount my phone to my monitor for meetings since that video quality is way better than my webcam but I was also impressed by how it looks as a phone stand. I liked that you can also remove the magnetic portion and use only that for a thin monitor like the one on a macbook. On that same note, I loved that you can use a MagSafe charger instead of the magnet that comes with it so your mount now doubles as a charger, genius! In general I highly recommend it

This is a good product. It is very sturdy and holds well on external monitors. However, I do not like that it is optimized more for the back camera. I usually try to use my front camera in portrait mode. It holds well with good grip. But when taking it off, it usually comes out with the phone. I wish it is stuck to the monitor more solidly.

I love devices that serve more than 1 purpose and this fits the build. Turn your cellphone into a webcam for your desktop monitor. Used it as a phone stand for your desk. Separate the magnetic disk and use it to mount your cellphone as a webcam for your laptop. Did I mention all 3 functions you can do wireless charging if you have a charger that fits the circular mount. Great item to have in your every day carry accessory bag.

Notoriously, the Apple Studio Display has a horrifying webcam. Note my two photos here, and you'll see how badly in need I was of this iPhone mount. The difference is really night and day between the two.In my opinion a good webcam mount doesn't suction onto the back of the monitor or use adhesive, it should instead be balanced by weight, and that's what the SODI camera mount does. The counterweight on the backside presses on the monitor (or laptop screen) and the phone sits at the top with the lip pulling back against the screen to stop it from falling backwards. This camera mount also allows you to rotate the camera up and down on a hinge. The hinge is strong and isn't a problem even for the size and weight of the Pro Max phone.All in all, I can't recommend this camera mount highly enough.

Too heavy for my 2020 Mac book proUpdate 7/16/2024After using the camera mount more, it does its job so I will adjust my star rating. It is kinda heavy for my MacBook Pro w/ iPhone 13 Pro.I will leave my original review up

The product is of good quality but is quite heavy. If you use it on a macbook monitor, it won't stay in position unless it's 90 degrees.If you are going to use it on a monitor on your desktop, you will probably have better results, and the weight of the product will become something positive bringing more firmness.If you use an iPhone case, make sure you use a MagSafe compatible case.

This does well to utilize the continuity camera on the iMac 27". Because I have a HD FaceTime camera the quality is just moderately better using the iPhone 13 Pro. However, you do get to utilize specialty features such as Portrait Mode and Center Stage to keep you in focus at all times. Ultimately this does significantly improve the remote zoom experience and for that reason it's worthy of the small price of admission. The mount is flexible and I thought the magnet was 'good enough' but could be stronger. Ultimately the makers of these balance form/function and trying to be able to work with as many form factors as possible. I get that it's a tall order. Appearance: Looks and built great!Fit: Phone fits it perfectly and it’s incredibly sturdy! It’s easy to use, if you’re plan to set and forget it. If you plan to move it around a lot, be mindful that magnetic part detaches from the base. (which kinda makes no sense to me). Other than that minor annoyance, this little thing performs well! 👊🏽
